Privacy Policy

1. What this policy covers

This policy explains what SmartHandy.men collects from clients and pros, why, who sees it, and how to have it corrected or deleted. It covers smarthandy.men and smarthandy.pro, which are two entrances to the same service. SmartHandy.men is operated by Uforatsto Inc., New York.

2. What we collect

From clients: your name, email address, optional phone number, borough and ZIP code, the kind of building, the description of your job, the photos you upload, the bids you receive, the pro you select, the final price you report paying, and your review. Location metadata (EXIF, including GPS) is stripped from photos when they are uploaded; only a re-encoded copy is stored.

From pros: name, email, phone, business details, license numbers and their verification dates, insurance certificate details, boroughs and specialties, bio, profile and portfolio photos, bids and referral settings.

Automatically: server logs including IP address and user agent, used for security and rate limiting; and the cookies described below. We do not use advertising trackers.

3. How we use it and who receives it

To generate your estimate we send your job description, borough, building type and photos to our AI provider, Anthropic, which processes them under its API terms. To send sign-in links and notifications we use our email provider, Resend. If analytics are enabled we use Plausible, which is cookieless and does not identify individuals. These are the only third parties that receive personal information from us, and each receives only what its service needs.

We use the final price clients report to calibrate future estimates, in aggregate. We use event logs (for example when an estimate turns into a request or when a bid is placed) to understand how the marketplace performs.

Every email we send is transactional: sign-in links, new-request and bid notifications, contact details after a selection, and completion prompts. We do not send marketing email.

We do not sell personal information, do not share it with advertisers, and do not use it for advertising.

4. Who sees what

Pros who are eligible for your job see its description, photos, borough, ZIP code and the AI range, but not your name, email or phone. When you select a pro, that pro receives your name, email and phone, and you receive theirs. Requests made through a specific pro's page are visible only to that pro, unless the pro has chosen to release unanswered requests to other pros after a set time.

A pro's public page shows their name, photo, bio, years of experience, license and insurance badges, boroughs, specialties, star rating, review excerpts and portfolio. License numbers are not shown publicly.

Client reviews appear on the pro's page with the star rating and text; we do not show the reviewer's name or contact details.

5. Cookies and tracking

We set only the cookies needed to keep you signed in and to protect the site. They are not used for advertising or cross-site tracking. Blocking them will prevent sign-in but not the public estimator.

We do not track you across other websites, and no third party collects information about your activity across websites through ours. Because we do not track, the site does not change its behavior in response to "Do Not Track" browser signals.

6. Retention and deletion

We keep request data, bids and reviews for as long as they are needed to run the marketplace and to calibrate estimates. Photos attached to a request are deleted no later than 12 months after the request closes; the job description and the estimate may be kept without the photos for calibration.

You can ask us to correct or delete your personal information by emailing service@smarthandy.men from the address on your account. We will delete it unless we are required to keep it, for example to keep a record of a completed job or a dispute. Reviews may be retained in anonymized form.

7. Security

All traffic is encrypted in transit. Uploaded photos are re-encoded, stored under random file names, and served only through the site. Access to the database is limited to the operator. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting your data we will notify you as New York law requires.

8. Children

The site is for adults, 18 and older, arranging repairs to homes in New York City. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and never from children under 13; if we learn that we have, we delete it.

9. Changes and contact

We may update this policy. Each version shows its effective date at the top of this page. For material changes we will email registered users at least 30 days before the new version takes effect, and we will not use information collected under an earlier version in a materially different way without your consent.
